Exercises for the fingers

Students regularly ask me for exercises for the fingers, and even though hundreds of books have been written on the subject, I enjoy designing exercises myself. In the past years I've written many different exercises and I'll publish some of those here on this blog.

With the exercise shown above, several skills are practiced; the minor-pentatonic scale (over a greater distance than the octave), starting to play after the one (in response to the left hand), and playing towards an accentuated targetnote. Playing this exercise in twelve keys (see download) is an additional difficulty, but can be done, just slowly increase the tempo.

Have fun practising,

Kino
