Ik heb vaak met Kino mogen werken en dat was - en is - nog steeds een waar genoegen. Vooral één op één met hem, stem en piano, is musiceren ten top. Tot op de vierkante centimeter !
My Touch
Kino Haitsma raakt de piano en rhodes aan, op zijn eigen, persoonlijke wijze.
My Touch bevat negen composities van Haitsma en benadert het traditionele piano-trio op een frisse manier. Kino plaatst de piano in een ander perspectief, met compact, groovy ensemble-spel (waarin hij zijn ritmesectie ruim baan geeft) en pakkende thema’s, terwijl hij ook een bedachtzame, emotionele en diepe kant toont. Stilistisch gaan de nummers van dansbare jazz-house tot experimenten met vreemde maatsoorten, terwijl ze steeds aangenaam beluisterbaar blijven. Muziek voor het verstand én voor de ziel.

"What I really like about Kino's playing is he doesn't overplay, he's not concerned with how fast he can play a scale or displaying how technically proficient he is. This is refreshing in todays marketplace of pianists, many who seem to be only interested in the technical aspects of a performance. It's obvious that Kino feels the groove is important and that technique is merely a means to an end and not the end in itself.
This album is a nice mix of piano and rhodes led tunes that are very well played. The material is well suited for his musical vision and I commend him in this effort."
